Here is a really great natural alternative to achieving “shiny frizz free hair!”. I love coming across natural, inexpensive, eco friendly solutions, so when I came across this I had to share!
What is Apple cider vinegar?
It is made from fresh ripe apples. It goes through a fermentation process that creates the final product.
There are countless of products on the market today that are meant to clean, condition, curl, shine, strengthen, color, and moisturize your hair. Unfortunately a lot of these products contain chemical ingredients that can damage your hair and cause build-up in your hair and scalp.
Apple cider vinegar is a natural alternative and has a naturally high pH which makes it an excellent cleaning agent.
Hair is considered on the acidic side of the pH scale. Hair products that are sold on the market are strongly alkaline. These soap-based shampoos, hair coloring, permanents and bleaches dry out the hair and scalp.
Rinsing your hair with apple cider vinegar removes the build up and gunk left by many styling products. It also calms frizzy hair and gives your hair a beautiful shine!
Won’t the vinegar leave a smell in my hair??
Once the hair dries out you wont smell a thing!
Here area a few apple cider vinegar rinse recipes:
Mix 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with one cup of warm water and rinse. Leaving the mixture in your hair acts like a leave-in conditioner.
For those who have dandruff and an itchy scalp; this rinse does wonders. The enzymes and acids in apple cider vinegar kills a bacteria that causes many scalp conditions. “The bacterium clogs hair follicles and then a dry crust forms that itches and flakes away.”
Treatment: apply apple cider vinegar directly to the scalp. Massage it in and leave it on for an hour before washing your hair.
By infusing herbs into a vinegar rinse you can condition your hair and enhance the color at the same time. You prepare the herb just like you would prepare tea leaves to make a cup of tea.
Method:
Place 2 tablespoons of the dried herb mixture in a tea ball. Pour 1 pint of boiling water over the herbs and allow it to steep for 2 hours. Allow the infused tea to cool completely. Combine with 1 pint of apple cider vinegar and mix well.
Different Herbs and their uses:
* For oily hair: lavender, thyme, yarrow, witch hazel
* For damaged hair: horsetail
* For dry hair: marigold
* For dark hair: parsley, rosemary, sage
* For red hair: henna
* For fair hair: chamomile, marigold
* Conditioning: Calendula
* Conditioner for everyday shampooed hair: Linden
* Dandruff: Nettles, Sounthernwood, Goosegrass, Plantain, Burdock Root and tea tree oil.
I am definitely going to try Apple cider vinegar out. If you try it out let us know what the result was like.
If you have any natural tips you would like to share post it in the comment box below..
