So apparently the correct way to care for your denim is to ‘freeze’ them! Yes you read correctly! I’m not so sure about this latest care tip because for something to be clean in my book it has to go through the soap and water method.  But for denim enthusiasts apparently this isn’t news.. this is a way of life. Riiiight… I may consider it for those one of a kind jeans with maybe leather trimmings, jewels, special paint, certain quality once in a while worn kinda jeans but definitely not my daily ‘go to’ pair.  They say to make sure your go to denim stays fresh they encourage you to freeze them rather than wash them.  Some call it their home dry cleaning method.  A college student wore his denim for 15months and tested his jeans comparing it to wearing the jeans for 13 days and here is the study they did to compare the microbes.  One thing for sure if you wash your jeans once a month you help decrease energy and help the environment.  According to Levi Strauss you save enery by 40% and water use by 35%.

What does this freeze clean method do?

It removes bacteria, restores the shape and preserves dark dyes and special finishes.

So how exactly do you freeze clean?

1.  Spot clean stains and let jeans dry completely.

2. Fold lengthwise twice, then smooth out wrinkles.

3.  Place jeans in zip lock bag and close tightly without air.

4.  Place jeans in freezer for a minimum of 24 hours.

5.  Thaw, wear, repeat!

How do you care for your denim? Would you consider the freeze method or does it gross you out?

This isn’t a new fashion concept to us modest fashion loving chicas but it’s nice to see it on the main page of WHOWHATWEAR: from RUNWAR to REAL WAY!  Below are a few tunic/dress tops that can be worn over pants/jeans from my perfect go to online shop ASOS.  I went a bit crazy with my picks.. can spend forever browsing on that site and loved all the pieces and had to share!

Which is you favorite?

A heart warming video that will restore your faith in humanity.  Let’s make it a point to start spreading more love and the world around you will love you back in many ways.  Please share this message .. we’ve started a New Year 2013; let’s start it with little gestures of kindness that make a whole lot of difference.

Sarah Baadarani is a new Luxury womenswear label, founded in 2010.  Sarah was born and raised in London and is originally Lebanese.  I fell in love with her Fall/Winter12 collection and am also including the S/s13 images from her Lookbook for you to see.  Gorgeous modern yet classic structures.  Powerful designs yet feminine at the same time.  These romantic designs with lace, sheer fabrics, and drapery blend beautifully.

You can find Sarah Baadarani at Symphony Boutique at the Dubai Mall.

I attended a basic make up course a while back by The Makeup Manual guru Mai Almoayed.  This is a must workshop for all girls.  Even if you know a thing or two about makeup and how to apply, you will still leave with a wealth of knowledge! The amount of hand written notes I jotted down was pages long.  She goes through the complete basics, pre application, explanation of brushes, tips of the trade and so much more.  Makeup Forever has a stand at her place where we got to purchase products and have her guide us with exactly what is suitable for our skin, tone and matching the right foundation colour.  I am really looking forward to taking her advance class and this girl is always fully booked mashallah!! Her classes tend to be over full (limited no. of seats per class) and theres a waiting a list.

Now here’s the good news for all you Dubaian chicas; The Makeup Manual is coming to Dubai!! Don’t miss this opportunity she’s not only talented but a real sweetheart.  Follow her on @themakeupmanual and if you have any makeup related questions she always tries her best to answer her followers as prompt as she can.

The Makeup Manual coming to Dubai soon.. stay tuned for dates.

(below is her announcement)

Happy New Year my lovelies..wishing every one of you a happy, healthy year filled with love and blessings from above.  I have been a bit quiet over the past few months busy with life and work and one of my resolutions is to get back on blogging track.  I was in Dubai for NYE and it was spectacular watching the fireworks from the roof of our home.  It has become tradition to spend NYE with my closest and dearest and I wouldn’t have it any other way.  What did you do on New Year’s day? I arrived in Bahrain to a whole lot of unpacking..

Until the next blog post .. spread love everywhere you go at the end of the day that is what counts..<3
