W By Walla is by a talented local bahraini designer and I was lucky enough to get to be behind the scenes on the set of her S/S14 lookbook shoot.  The collection is called ‘Reflections’ and her inspiration came from her own land, our island.  The colour palette she chose symbolize eastern shades of sand revived by deep emerald, striking turquoise and a pop of orange, emphasizing the sophisticated charm of the collection. There is nothing more I love than supporting a local brand that is really good at what they do!! Lave Affair is a husband and wife business who make natural soaps, lotion bars, salts scrubs and some more.  The brand came about when the couple could not find a solution to dry, cracked skin.  None of the over the counter and drug store products were helping and that’s when they turned to a natural solution.  I had heard of Lave affair and with my love for all things natural I couldn’t wait to try their products.  Was it telepathy when Huda rang me saying she had a box of goodies for me.. I don’t know.. I’m just thankful for having been introduced to this lovely brand. Read the rest of this entry »

TheRow_001_1366.450x675 At NYFW, The Row created the mood of an eastern sahara dessert with a modern nomadic twist.  They sent you traveling to Arabia and beyond with their hints of the traditional jalabiya,  the veils, the loafers that reminded me of morrocan slippers, the colours and hints of a dessert safari.  I loved the layering, the crinckled georgette fabric and the woven peices.  It was great to see Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen  showcase a collection that was inspired by travel, specifically the east and arabia at New York Fashion Week.

Just a few more NYFW posts to go I promise ;).  For those who have followed it, this is a recap.  For those who haven’t a clue, this is what you missed.  loved Karen Walker’s collection and how functional all her pieces were.  The combination of the light colors, eastern prints and modest designs had me at an instant.   The pink blazer and coat were just beautiful and who knew baggy trousers could look so cool!  Words that desrcibe the collection; chic, comfortable, relaxed, free spirit and modest ❤ Read the rest of this entry »

Mawi @ Saks Fifth Avenue - AED 1,647 BD 168 (2)

Am really lovi’n Mawi’s F/W13 collection.  I love the subtle studs designed in a classic style.  The earrings above are beautiful and very art deco.   These peices are timeless and will last you a long while.  Read the rest of this entry »

Prabal Gurung‘s was fun, modern, elegant 1950’s glamour.  Women that came to mind were Jessica Rabbit and Marylin Monroe (who happened to be his muse for this collection).   The juxtaposition of plastic harnesses, raincoats and pvc skirts alongside fabric, technicolor patterns and pastels is not uncommon to the designer who dresses Gaga.   I loved the interpretation of old glamour with techno modern.  For more images of his collection visit .  Below are my picks from his collection. I know NYFW has ended and were on to LFW but I am still going to share my NYFW hits at my own pace.  Getting back into routine after a summer break is no joke with 3 kids.  SO here we go…

Philipino/American designer Josie Natori’s collection was a modern throwback to old Hollywood glamour.  Her designs are feminine yet structured, elegant yet powerful.  Josie  understands power dressing very well as she use to work on Wall St. and rose to the ranks as Vice President in Investment Banking at Merrill Lynch.  She left banking for fashion in ’77 and has never looked back.  Below are some of my favorite picks from the catwalk.  I really loved this collection.  The clothes were beautiful, modest fashionable clean cut designs.

The inspiration behind this whimsical, dreamy, structured and volume-ful collection is a apparently a portrait of a gypsy woman with a tambourine.  This spanish label has everyone swooning after this collection.  Many are rushing to preorder dresses on Moda Operandi.  The dresses are romantic and feel like they have stepped out of a modern 19th century fairytale if that even makes sense.   Did you even see the shoes!!! Am obsessing over them big time.

Below are my favorite Delpozo picks!
