W By Walla is by a talented local bahraini designer and I was lucky enough to get to be behind the scenes on the set of her S/S14 lookbook shoot.  The collection is called ‘Reflections’ and her inspiration came from her own land, our island.  The colour palette she chose symbolize eastern shades of sand revived by deep emerald, striking turquoise and a pop of orange, emphasizing the sophisticated charm of the collection.

Walla used digital images of the island, mappings, and images of palm trees and metamorphosed them into the embroidery work and details on her designs.  The result is just beautiful!

This was one of my favorite collections of Walla’s.  The beauty of her pieces is that you can imagine seeing them on the red carpet and at the same time pair them up with pencil trousers or a full length dress to modestify the outfit for someone who is covered or dresses modestly.  Her designs are suitable for all women from the west to the middle east and that’s when you know the collection is a success.

Below are images of behind the scenes where you will get to see award winning bahraini photographer Ali Sharaf, makeup artist Katie Cousins and stylist Caroline Farell all in action.  It’s always great to be on set where all the energy takes place.  Unfortunately I couldn’t be there for the whole shoot as I had other commitments but stay tuned for an upcoming post of more images of the collection and a special interview with the designer.
