It has been a while since I did a post on Pregnancy, birth and Mama-hood and what better way to kick start again than by informing mums to be about a movement I truly am passionate about.  A lot of the times when women get pregnant, it’s just tick tock tick tock till it’s time to push.  Not many take the time to educate themselves about pregnancy, birth, birthing techniques, doulas, cesarians, pain reliefs and so on.. they just listen to the Dr and take everything face value.   Read the rest of this entry »

Mark your calendars ladies as Nov 15th is the date Isabel Marant X H&M collection hits the stores and online!! I was excited to hear the news when it was first revealed and couldn’t wait to see what the collection will look like.  Isabel Marant’s signature style meshed with H&M’s affordable high street fashion has given birth to a hip collection.  The collection includes clothing for women, men, kids, shoes and accessories.  I am loving the bohemian rock chick look!! There are quite a few pieces that I am eyeing and hoping to get my hands on.  I will do a blogpost of my picks later on.  What do you think of H&M’s collaborations? Who would you like to see jump on the collaboration bandwagon? This is definitely something to look forward to.

I recently did a blog post of the behind the scenes photo shoot for W by Walla look book.  I loved the collection, the detailing and more important that it was designed by a Bahraini designer!  The images below are my picks from this collecton.  The lookbook was photographed by award winning Bahraini photographer Ali Sharaf who is amazing at what he does.  I got the chance to interview Walla, who is a busy mum and a designer to find out more about inspirations, love for her country and a lot more.

Whenever there is such a high calibre event taking place, other than the international designers, I get so excited to see which regional GCC designers get to shine and show their talent.  VFDE have chosen some smoking hot designers from the region and one of them is our very own Bahraini Lulwa Al Amin!!

Lulwa Al Amin was born and raised in Bahrain, and graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2009 with a BA in Textile Design. The brand, which is based in London, was founded in 2010, and Lulwa launched her first collection in 2011.  Lulwa’s design are feminine, graceful and beautiful but what stands out the most is the intricate and sometimes bold prints and patterns.  All the prints are hand painted before being applied to the fabric and the collection she will be showcasing at VFDE is inspired by India.  Below is an exclusive picture to this blog of the beautiful Maharani dress.  Thank you Lulwa for sharing and giving us a sneak peek into your collection.  I can’t wait to see the whole lot.

Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience (VFDE)  takes place on October 10th The Dubai Mall.  The fashion shows will be held at the Fashion Catwalk in the Fashion Avenue where eight international designers will showcase their latest collections, as well as a gala dinner attended by international celebrities.  Lulwa Al Amin is one of four Gulf talents to be featured in the event and we are super proud!!!

Stay tuned for an upcoming interview with Lulwa Al Amin ..

I am very very sad to say that unfortunately after all the INGLOT O2M madness, that it turned out not to be quite what it seemed.  I am gutted! It may sound a tad dramatic, but I as soo excited to finally be able to wear nailpolish without worrying about my salaaat.  I was totally convinced by what they marketed and said how it is created from a polymer similar to contact lenses; so to me it made complete sense. I wore it for months without a flinch and now I feel awful.  I didn’t even consider testing it, until I started to notice others testing it and it was coming up negative.  I wanted to believe so bad that for me it would work, which is why I didn’t do an itty bitty patch test but a massive patch and put a lot of water and massaged it in for a while etc.. (maybe if I get the time I will post my own test online) but sadly it didn’t pass the test at all! In hindsight I should have tested it before buying a massive stock of O2M.. oh well.. Just when fashion week came to an end you thought you could kick off your heels and take a breather.  There is so much fashion happening this month of October in Dubai, that you better jot them all down in your calender.

Starting on the 10th is a spectacular fashion affair and a first of it’s kind by Emaar that is taking place at the Dubai Mall,  ‘VOGUE FASHION DUBAI EXPERIENCE’.  The evening – brainchild of Mrs. Franca Sozzani, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Italia, and Mr. Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman of Emaar Properties – will offer fashion shows, exhibitions, interactive events, celebrity appearances and, of course, plenty of shopping opportunities.  It’s not all just about the glitz and glam but also for a good cause to promote education in developing countries through Dubai Cares.  Read the rest of this entry »
