It’s going to be an early start and a long wait on the 14th of Nov queuing for the launch of H&M’s newest collaboration; but it will be so worth it!  Going to these launches it’s always important to have an idea before hand what the collection will look like so you can start narrowing down what it is you must have and what is on your maybe list.  This way once the doors open you know exactly what it is you’re looking for.  After going to a few of these it is so funny to actually just watch the craziness going on; but that only lasts a split second since making sure you get your wish list is at stake and time is tickety tock.  Try and go with a friend, examine each other’s lists; and make a run for it when doors open.  This way your chances double to get the stuff you want and you help each other out.   I have seen some ladies come with their house help and have print outs with sizes written on, to make it easier for them and for her to get her hands on her items.  I must admit that was quite amusing to see but I guess everyone has their own tactics and plan of action.  Have you been to any of the H&M collaborations? I would love to hear your experiences and how you prepare for these launches.

Mark your calendars ladies as Nov 15th is the date Isabel Marant X H&M collection hits the stores and online!! I was excited to hear the news when it was first revealed and couldn’t wait to see what the collection will look like.  Isabel Marant’s signature style meshed with H&M’s affordable high street fashion has given birth to a hip collection.  The collection includes clothing for women, men, kids, shoes and accessories.  I am loving the bohemian rock chick look!! There are quite a few pieces that I am eyeing and hoping to get my hands on.  I will do a blogpost of my picks later on.  What do you think of H&M’s collaborations? Who would you like to see jump on the collaboration bandwagon? This is definitely something to look forward to.

I recently did a blog post of the behind the scenes photo shoot for W by Walla look book.  I loved the collection, the detailing and more important that it was designed by a Bahraini designer!  The images below are my picks from this collecton.  The lookbook was photographed by award winning Bahraini photographer Ali Sharaf who is amazing at what he does.  I got the chance to interview Walla, who is a busy mum and a designer to find out more about inspirations, love for her country and a lot more.

Whenever there is such a high calibre event taking place, other than the international designers, I get so excited to see which regional GCC designers get to shine and show their talent.  VFDE have chosen some smoking hot designers from the region and one of them is our very own Bahraini Lulwa Al Amin!!

Lulwa Al Amin was born and raised in Bahrain, and graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2009 with a BA in Textile Design. The brand, which is based in London, was founded in 2010, and Lulwa launched her first collection in 2011.  Lulwa’s design are feminine, graceful and beautiful but what stands out the most is the intricate and sometimes bold prints and patterns.  All the prints are hand painted before being applied to the fabric and the collection she will be showcasing at VFDE is inspired by India.  Below is an exclusive picture to this blog of the beautiful Maharani dress.  Thank you Lulwa for sharing and giving us a sneak peek into your collection.  I can’t wait to see the whole lot.

Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience (VFDE)  takes place on October 10th The Dubai Mall.  The fashion shows will be held at the Fashion Catwalk in the Fashion Avenue where eight international designers will showcase their latest collections, as well as a gala dinner attended by international celebrities.  Lulwa Al Amin is one of four Gulf talents to be featured in the event and we are super proud!!!

Stay tuned for an upcoming interview with Lulwa Al Amin ..

Just when fashion week came to an end you thought you could kick off your heels and take a breather.  There is so much fashion happening this month of October in Dubai, that you better jot them all down in your calender.

Starting on the 10th is a spectacular fashion affair and a first of it’s kind by Emaar that is taking place at the Dubai Mall,  ‘VOGUE FASHION DUBAI EXPERIENCE’.  The evening – brainchild of Mrs. Franca Sozzani, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Italia, and Mr. Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman of Emaar Properties – will offer fashion shows, exhibitions, interactive events, celebrity appearances and, of course, plenty of shopping opportunities.  It’s not all just about the glitz and glam but also for a good cause to promote education in developing countries through Dubai Cares.  Read the rest of this entry »

With Hajj season and Eid around the corner, I am giving away one Pret a Prier portable praying gown that comes in a little pouch to one lucky reader/follower worldwide.  PRET-A-PRIER translated from French means Ready to Pray!  I have blogged about pret a prier before and how I love their product.  The prayer gown comes folded in a 20cm pouch that will fit in your bag and opens up into a 5m praying gown.  Whether you wear hijab or don’t this is the perfect prayer solution to pray on the go wherever you are. W By Walla is by a talented local bahraini designer and I was lucky enough to get to be behind the scenes on the set of her S/S14 lookbook shoot.  The collection is called ‘Reflections’ and her inspiration came from her own land, our island.  The colour palette she chose symbolize eastern shades of sand revived by deep emerald, striking turquoise and a pop of orange, emphasizing the sophisticated charm of the collection. TheRow_001_1366.450x675 At NYFW, The Row created the mood of an eastern sahara dessert with a modern nomadic twist.  They sent you traveling to Arabia and beyond with their hints of the traditional jalabiya,  the veils, the loafers that reminded me of morrocan slippers, the colours and hints of a dessert safari.  I loved the layering, the crinckled georgette fabric and the woven peices.  It was great to see Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen  showcase a collection that was inspired by travel, specifically the east and arabia at New York Fashion Week.
