It has been a while since I did a post on Pregnancy, birth and Mama-hood and what better way to kick start again than by informing mums to be about a movement I truly am passionate about.  A lot of the times when women get pregnant, it’s just tick tock tick tock till it’s time to push.  Not many take the time to educate themselves about pregnancy, birth, birthing techniques, doulas, cesarians, pain reliefs and so on.. they just listen to the Dr and take everything face value.   Read the rest of this entry »

deep blue

I love my Deep Blue Rub by doTerra.  Not only does it smell wonderful but it really helps sore muscles, joints, injuries and strains.  Last week I had a  pain on the side of my abdomen which would suddenly throb periodically throughout the day.  This lasted a couple of days and I had tried a few things but nothing worked.  I had just received my doTerra order and it was perfect timing to receive this cream.  I applied it in the afternoon and instantly started to feel relief.  I am not sure what I did to cause the pain; but by the end of the day I didn’t feel a thing.   This week  I managed to hurt my knee while working out ! ( i’m not accident prone .. honest) and again my Deep Blue Rub is my treatment of choice for the next few days.

dōTERRA®’s Deep Blue® Rub is a rich, topical cream infused with Deep Blue Soothing Blend of Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade essential oils that provides targeted comfort to tired and sore joints and muscles. Formulated with a proprietary blend of natural plant extracts and other powerful ingredients, Deep Blue Rub provides a comforting sensation of cooling and warmth to problem areas. With close to 5 ml of dōTERRA’s top-selling Deep Blue essential oil blend of wintergreen, camphor, peppermint, blue tansy, German chamomile, helichrysum, and osmanthus, Deep Blue Rub is an essential addition to your bathroom cabinet, gym bag, or first aid kit. Deep Blue Rub is blended in a base of moisturizing emollients that leave your skin feeling soft, not greasy and is the choice of massage therapists and sports practitioners for applying dōTERRA’s Deep Blue essential oil blend.”

my oilsHere is just a snippet of my doTerra Oils (how do you like my little travel bag kit I made?:))

It is beyond crazy that it has taken me 2 years to write this post! There’s a few reasons why it has taken me so long. Firsly I wanted to make sure that I really did believe in the stuff.  Secondly; I fell so deeply passionately in love with the oils that with so much to say about them, I had no idea where to even begin.  I am going to make this post brief because I have decided that I will need to keep posting about these oils and the benefits of each etc. so a short post here as an intro should suffice.  For those of you who are new to the blog, I am BIG on natural home remedies.  I clean my home with natural products and my go to meds are always my homeopathic remedies and now my MUST HAVE oils.  I used to eye doTerra and wonder whether it actually lived up to the hype.  I watched the youtube videos and I read all the posts.  I believed in the concept and hoped that it could deliver it’s high quality oils as it claimed. A heart warming video that will restore your faith in humanity.  Let’s make it a point to start spreading more love and the world around you will love you back in many ways.  Please share this message .. we’ve started a New Year 2013; let’s start it with little gestures of kindness that make a whole lot of difference.

I’ve never quite understood what the whole fuss was/is with the Evian water spray.  I have bought it a few times and never knew really what to do with it besides giving  yourself a little cooling down spritz on hot a day.  It’s just water in a spritzer.. or is it?

Well honestly that’s what I thought until I was recommended to try it again and was told of it’s benefits.  We can all agree that it isn’t just any o’l water.. it’s Evian compressed in a can and when sprayed produces a really fine mist.  I actually love this product and am using it everyday and figured there are many of you out there just like me who never knew what to really do with it.

Here are some of the benefits:

* the obvious- the spray hydrates and cools your skin on hot days/temps. Pop it in the fridge for a lovely cooling effect on a hot day.  Spray on neck, hair, face.

* use after you have cleansed, toned, applied serums and moisteriser; then spray your face a few times to seal in the moisture and keep your skin hydrated (this is what I do)

*after applying makeup a couple of spritzes of Evian will help make your makeup look more natural and give it a dewy appearance.

*if you find after applying makeup, your makeup looks too thick or needs toning down, a couple of spritzes does the job

*”If your skin has a tendency to dry up during the latter part of the day (this can happen a lot if you’re in a cold office), you can spritz a bit of Evian to literally water your skin. The humectants in your moisturizer and/or makeup will seal in the moisture from the water.”

* the Evian spray is a great substitute for the MAC Fix + and sets make up.

* spritzing your face prior to applying moisturizers help improve the effectiveness of the cream and seal in moisture.  Spray your face and wait for it to dry before applying the creams.

* the canister is sealed and sterilized so no worry of spills or leaks.  Tap water often contains chlorine, fluoride and other harsh substances which can cause senstivity and dryness.  Evian water is soft and contains minerals that the skin will benefit from and be easily absorbed.

* if you use a lot of powder based makeup and find that you look a little powdery and chalky; spritz a bit of Evian and it will create a more natural look.

*Evian’s mist rehydrates skin suffering from overheated, dry office air and skin exposed to heaters. Evian Spray also revives your makeup throughout the day, and keeps you looking fresh by replenishing much needed moisture.

*It’s a great cleansing mist of that removes perspiration, harmful salt or chlorine, and instantly soothes and rehydrates sun-burned or wind chapped skin.

There is nothing like a nice hot cuppa to give you that moment of peace during a hectic day or like a great friend to share the end of your evening with. Whichever way you like your tea, for thousands of years people have held it in their hands and shared special moments, tears, joy and happiness with it.   We cannot underestimate the power of tea; not just for our souls but even their health benefits.  Tchaba tea is a very high quality distinguished tea brand.  Tchaba tea leaves are grown in tea estates all over the world and then collected and brought to tea connoisseurs where the special blends are mixed and packaged. Tchaba only uses top quality, full leaf teas, none of that tea dust that is full of coloring and chemicals.  Each satchet containing 2.5g of tea (that’s enough to infuse 400ml of water, so more than your normal cup of tea-keep the cuppa rolling) is made of 100% natural cotton, handcrafted, biodegradeable and sewn with cotton so that the tea leaves remain intact. . There are more than 40 types of teas and tea blends as well as herbal infusions that are unique to Tchaba.  I got gifted two beautiful boxes of an assortment of Tchaba  tea and my favorites are Paradise, White nights and Lemon Twist. The gift box makes a lovely hostess gift.

Currently in Bahrain, you can enjoy Tchaba at popular places such as Lilou cafes and all the rest of the Al Ghalia group of restaurants and cafes (Zoe’s, Mezzaluna..etc), Fish market as well as Salad Boutique, Gulf Hotel, Sheraton Hotel, the Marriott and many others.

The best part is Tchaba Designer Tea Boutique will be opening very soon in Bahrain for all tea lovers to enjoy.  Stay tuned.

I came across Oolong tea a.k.a Wulong tea a few years ago and LOVE IT!! A few people have asked what is so great about it, I am not one to retain important information in my head, so I thought best to answer that question through a blog post where you all can read about it!

Oolong tea is between a black and green tea with a sweet taste. Tastes and looks almost like regular black tea however what makes it so special is it’s fat burning capabilities. Oolong tea burns 157% (250% depending on which research you read) more fat than green tea!! whichever % you look at it’s still a HUGE figure!!! I have never been a green tea fan but with a figure like that I don’t have to force myself to drink green tea anymore. This explains why Oolong tea is a favorite amongst celebrities; Oprah Winfrey and Rachael Ray. A tea that can accelerate weight loss and be super good for you too. Wish it did something for my memory as I am sure the next person that asks me about Oolong tea I will just go blank.

* Drinking 2 cups of Oolong tea a day boosts your metablosim and helps block the fattening effects of carbs and fats
* Helps treat Type 2 diabetes
*Promotes strong healthy teeth
* Helps clear the skin and give a healthy glow
* Slows down the aging process
* Strengthens the immune system

You can buy Oolong tea at most health shops- I personally get mine from the Live well shop at Al Jazira supermarket Mahooz Bahrain

*stay tuned for a review on the amazing designer fine tea Tchaba coming soon

Summer is here with a big hard hot slap across the face!  It didn’t gradually come round … it’s hitting us hard and early. That’s all good ’cause summer = pools and that’s the fun part!  However spending time in the pool does mean we have to do something to protect our hair from chlorine and it’s drying effects.  Here are a few really simple ways you can protect your hair which is a lot easier than you may  think.

  • Saturate your hair with bottled water before getting into the pool.  This will keep the chlorine from absorbing into your hair follicles so, when preparing your beach/pool bag don’t forget that bottled water!
  • Applying leave-in conditioner before you hit the pool is also a great tip. Your hair will soak in the conditioner giving you a deep conditioner treatment while you’re splashing around.
  • Finally applying unrefined shea butter to your hair protects your hair from salt and chlorine not to mention it’s a great natural mild sunscreen!! For more on shea butter click here.
