Back in March my Bahrain Blogger‘s group got together with award winning photographer  Ali Sharaf to get some individual shots and group photos taken.  It was a lovely ‘hot’ morning in muharraq at the Sheikh Isa Bin Ali House.  The architecture was beautiful and it was the prefect setting, if you haven’t been it is worth the visit.  We had lots of fun messing around and taking our own shots while waiting for our turns.  Here is a peak of how the day went.

I was invited to attend The Body Shop’s redesigned store and try out their browsing experience.  The Body Shop has launched a new beauty movement called ‘Beauty With Heart’.  Each of their branches are the pulses and their aim is to encourage a Look Good, Feel Good and Do Good mindset by using their products.  Model Lily Cole is the face of this movement as she herself is a young aspiring activist.  As the three G’s suggest; The Body Shop products are much more than just products that make you feel good. You know that by buying their products you are helping communities and women around the world through their Community Fair trade programs, campaigns, animal welfare and protecting mother earth. When I was a teenager I used to help out and work at The Body Shop and popping into the store brought back some fond memories.  I loved their new layout.  It felt organic, raw and earthy.  They have introduced tables in the center displaying their products which encourage you to ‘browse’ ‘test’ and ‘sample’ their stuff.  There are little empty sample pots on hand to fill and try out the product at home before purchasing! I took home 2 sample pots; the tea tree face mask and the tea tree liquid face wash.  The place was buzzing and I got to bump into my favorite fellow bloggers; which always calls for a quick photo session 😉

Pop into The Body Shop near you, have a browse and grab some sample pots .. the best way to try

I was invited a few weeks ago along with my @bahrainbloggers group to attend the tasting for the upcoming Friday brunch menu on the 15th Feb at Al Aali mall.  We showed up knowing we would be filling our tummies with yummy goodies but Ohhhh My!!! .. plate after plate of delicious food came our way one by one… I didn’t think we could make it through the whole menu.. but you will be proud to hear we succeeded (lol).. we stuffed our faces but all for the cause of “tasting”.. it’s a tough job :p  The crab thermidor, salmon tikka and aubergine penne arabiatta were soooo good!!!

I am still trying to get the hang of taking pictures with my iphone5 so please bare with me till I get the quality right.

I attended a basic make up course a while back by The Makeup Manual guru Mai Almoayed.  This is a must workshop for all girls.  Even if you know a thing or two about makeup and how to apply, you will still leave with a wealth of knowledge! The amount of hand written notes I jotted down was pages long.  She goes through the complete basics, pre application, explanation of brushes, tips of the trade and so much more.  Makeup Forever has a stand at her place where we got to purchase products and have her guide us with exactly what is suitable for our skin, tone and matching the right foundation colour.  I am really looking forward to taking her advance class and this girl is always fully booked mashallah!! Her classes tend to be over full (limited no. of seats per class) and theres a waiting a list.

Now here’s the good news for all you Dubaian chicas; The Makeup Manual is coming to Dubai!! Don’t miss this opportunity she’s not only talented but a real sweetheart.  Follow her on @themakeupmanual and if you have any makeup related questions she always tries her best to answer her followers as prompt as she can.

The Makeup Manual coming to Dubai soon.. stay tuned for dates.

(below is her announcement)

Happy New Year my lovelies..wishing every one of you a happy, healthy year filled with love and blessings from above.  I have been a bit quiet over the past few months busy with life and work and one of my resolutions is to get back on blogging track.  I was in Dubai for NYE and it was spectacular watching the fireworks from the roof of our home.  It has become tradition to spend NYE with my closest and dearest and I wouldn’t have it any other way.  What did you do on New Year’s day? I arrived in Bahrain to a whole lot of unpacking..

Until the next blog post .. spread love everywhere you go at the end of the day that is what counts..<3

HARAKA {ha·ra·ka} verb /ˈha(ra)ka’/ : 1. To wear with swagger

Haraka recently launched their second collection this ramadan at their pop up shop at Saffaron in Muharraq.  I literally landed in Bahrain unpacked, settled the kids and drove  straight to Saffaron since it was the last day for the pop up shop.  I caught a glimpse of what a watch or two looked like on twitter and knew I had to have one.  I absolutely fell in love with their setup! Everything from the cushions, teacups, rose bottles, Nido tins and fresh flowers was an ode to the oldies.  The watches were creatively displayed and everything told a story.  I bought the Belle watch and the Muna-Lisa Tshirt. I came across this lovely Bahraini label called June that specializes in maxi skirts on Bahrainipreneur’s site (this site is a little gold mine!).  I love the colours and the pleated details.  The maxi skirt is a perfect modest staple!
