This is the reason why I need to get to Kuwait! I know I’m a little late with my post since tomorrow is the last day but for those of you in Kuwait .. GO!!! and for those of you in Bahrain … Road trip? 😉 The title of the event lives up to it’s name! With the lovliest of the region’s designers you’ll say May Jewelry, Hollywood Saudi designer Razan Alazzouni, The Yard, Fyunka and a whole lot more!!! Do yourself a favor, embrace the talents of the GCC and indulge yourself at Pretty Little Things you won’t regret it!

I think I am going to have to start creating a category for all things Kuwaiti on my blog (not a bad idea..hmm ).  Must must get myself to Kuwait to explore all their lovely goodies there . Here is a combination of two things I love arabic calligraphy with functional art is what you get with Silsal Ceramics.  Beautifully crafted stoneware that is boldly modern with its arabesque theme.  I love the tea cup sets, plates, vases… I love them all !!

Here is more about Silsal Ceramics:

For over 20 Years, Silsal Ceramics has been producing traditionally inspired stoneware functional art. Located in Amman, Jordan, Silsal’s passion for this traditional craft is complemented by a dedication to social responsibility as well as cultural enrichment and environmental consciousness.

The designs and shapes featured at Silsal Ceramics are modern renderings inspired by historical traditions. Using stoneware clays, Silsal’s artisans form and then fire each piece at very high temperatures before applying home-mixed, matte glazes from original recipes. Entirely functional, each unique art piece is ideal as a gift, home accessory, or for everyday use; each piece is microwavable, dishwasher safe, and lead-free.

The Silsal Collection features several lines inspired by the Bronze Age, the Mamluk period, other Islamic and regional motifs, and a modern, minimalist line. Ranging from purely decorative, to special use, to everyday home accessory, each item is carefully crafted into an original work of art.

May Jewelry is another brand that will be taking part at the Pretty Little Things event in Kuwait.  Her jewelry is beautiful, modern and proudly embraces arabic letters and calligraphy as part of design.  I love it because I love anything with arabesque design but these are soo pretty and make lovely unique gifts (especially the double ring rings)! I know what I will be getting my  hubby for his birthday; those gorgeous cufflinks!

*wishlist for me: the double ring “meem” ❤

About the Designer

May has a visual admiration for beautifully designed objects. Her interests are in prints, paintings and photography. She first started designing jewelry in 2007. At first there were a few pieces custom designed for family and friends. And now her beautifully designed pieces can be enjoyed by every one.
May Al Qassar has a BFA in Communication Design from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York.”In my eyes, the simpler the jewelry design the more personal it becomes.  Because beauty does not lay in the piece itself but gains it from the person it adorns.  And the more one wears it the more beautiful it becomes.” – May
