I love ASOS! It is always a pleasure going through their website and bagging all the stuff I want in my shopping cart and causing damage to my credit card! The other day I was browsing through their site when I came across this collection under ASOS SALON and fell in love with every single piece!!!!! It’s as if someone popped into my head and managed to sketch all the lovely dresses I had in my mind and dreams.  I’m a vintage-aholic and the beauty of  this collection is that they are all vintage inspired and smack on trend with it’s neon and bright colours.

“Feminine and frivolous, our ASOS SALON collection takes inspiration from vintage style, with beautiful appliqué finishes, floral shapes and a palette of sugary, ice-cream shades shot through with bold pops of neon colour. ASOS Salon offers a covetable capsule collection of occasion wear pieces with a ladylike aesthetic”

Avsh Alom Gur, is the new Creative Director and designer to the iconic label Ossie Clark. He is responsible for reviving the brand, and bringing back that famous Ossie Clark flare.  His fabrics were spot on true to the legend with its fluid, luxurious flowy movement on the models.

“The memory of Ossie’s fingerprint was very much evident in the floor-sweeping gowns in rippling silk, the plunging necklines, the billowing balloon sleeves and the mulberry, vivid mercury orange, chocolate and indigo hues.” Daily Mail

If you want to know vintage you will have to get to know who Ossie Clark is.  Ossie Clark is a name I grew up hearing along with another of my favorites- BIBA! My mother used to wear a lot of his clothes and I managed to snag a few of her dresses.  British designer Ossie is a vintage legend and his designs ooozes style and femininity.  Many fashion designers such as YSL, Anna Sui, Manolo Blahnik and Tom Ford  look to Ossie’s design for inspiration! If you manage to get your hands on an Ossie Clark vintage then you will be set for SS11 🙂

Here is a picture of the iconic designer and a few of his designs:

If you are mad about vintage of the true kind like I am (hate it when the word is used loosely) then the best thing to do when you are in London is to check out The Vintage Guide to London

I was lucky to attend the London Vintage Fashion, Textiles & Accessories Fair which described by many as “the Rolls Royce of the Vintage Fashion Fairs” and THE FIRST & THE BEST Vintage Fashion Fair in London – established in 1999.  This fair takes place approx every 4-5 weeks with over 100 stands, so if you miss one it won’t be the last.  They had everything there and can it can be overwhelming.  I went with my hubby which probably wasn’t the wisest thing to do since I like to browse, take my time, touch things and think of their origins etc where hubby wants me to go have a look and leave 🙂 He’s a man after all and shopping is never the ideal scenario for any man but the fact that he wanted to come with me to a vintage fair he gets bonus points for that.

The few hours I did get to spend there was great! I got to see Christian Dior, Ossie Clark, BIBA vintage clothes and much much more.. The best part of visiting these fairs is getting to do what I love best; people watching.  You get all sorts of people attending these fairs and some very very dedicated to the 50’s retro era.  Half the time it felt like I was standing next to extras from Mad Men and all that was left was to see Don Drapper himself! 🙂

The next date for this event is the 5th of Dec, or just check out the organisers for their up coming event dates.

xoxo

notice the BIBA 🙂 all BIBA items here …. (droool)

We all love a bargain! Singer turned fashion designer Pearl Lowe has designed a collection specifically a dress that is making celebs drool! The price tag makes us drool as well …. ₤35!!!

According to the Daily Mail “Pop star Courtney Love was so desperate to have the 1950s-inspired dress she sent a message to Miss Lowe, via Twitter, asking for one to be couriered to her suite at the Mercer Hotel, New York.”
Inspired by holloywood glamour and the 50’s her designs are targeted for the “real” woman with curves who loves fashion on a bud

I don’t know what shocks me more… the price of the dress or that Peacock has been round for 126 years??? Love the dress though and the vintage inspired theme!
